Get perfect beach holiday skin

People love holidaying on beach, but they do not know how to keep their skin glowing. Expert gives tip to protect skin to have that beautiful beach holiday look.

Jill Zander, founder of the Jill Zander Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, shares tips to keep skin looking beautiful in the summer sun and beyond, reports femalefirst.co.uk:

Sun protection:

Use a sunblock daily. Always include your neck, decollete and backs of hands and reapply frequently. Wear a hat and large lensed sunglasses.

Antioxidants:

We become more sensitive as we get older to external stresses, as a result of free radicals produced by environmental pollution, car exhaust fumes, UVA and UVB and cigarette smoke. Invest in a scientifically proven home care regime to protect your skin with vital nutrients providing good antioxidant protection enriched with vitamins C and E.

Repair sun damage:

When it comes to sun damage, vitamin A is the most valuable skin care nutrients applied to the skin. Vitamin A helps to smooth sun damage, giving less wrinkled skin and also helps to even out skin tone.

Use a good facial scrub:

It is required to remove oil, dirt, impurities and dead cells to improve texture and restore natural glow. Do it at night only.

Summer scent:

Never apply fragrance to the skin in the day. Oil of Bergamot, often used as a fixative, can cause photo sensitivity and pigmentary problems. Only apply in the evening.

Moisturisers from the kitchen for all skin types

Beauty in it's most natural of forms is not only the easiest to achieve but also the most accessible.

All-natural beauty treatments revitalize your skin and body, and are both effective and affordable. We suggest a few all-natural beauty treatments for all skin types that you can find inside your very own kitchen cupboards and refrigerators!

Oily skin:

If your skin tends to get oily, let these all-natural, readily available products be your new best friends:

Avocado:

Many beauty and health experts recommend the avocado juice for soft, glowing skin. Avocado is rich in Vitamin A that essentially offers clear, beautiful skin. Apart from this it is loaded with several other minerals like potassium, iron and copper that can collectively work wonders in giving your skin the right kind of moisture. "You can simply mash up an avocado or two and apply it on your skin and rinse it off after 15-20 minutes. Avocado juice is also a complete energizer and can boost you up completely," says Seema Rai, skin expert.

Bananas:

They are rich in Vitamin A as a result of which, bananas help immensely in restoring dull and damaged skin. To give your skin some natural moisturizer, mash a banana and apply it gently all over your face, keep it on your face for around twenty minutes and wash it off with some lukewarm water.
Additionally the Vitamin C present in bananas can help in giving your skin that natural glow.

Normal skin:

For those who're blessed with normal skin that is between dry and oil and habituates well with any climate, try these:

Grapes:

The Vitamin E present in grapes retains the moisture in the skin and also helps in the rejuvenation of deal skin cells. Mash a handful of grapes and use cotton to apply it across your face. Wash after a while. For best results, apply it a few times a week. Also, due to the presence of antioxidants, grapes can act as a natural sunscreen.

Cucumber:

Cucumbers restore moisture and maintain supple, healthy skin apart from several other benefits. "Cucumbers act as a good moisturizer for the body and skin. Antioxidants delay ageing of the skin and thus keep the skin rejuvenated. Simply by keeping cucumber slices on the eyes at night can relieve the puffiness better than any medication as it contains vitamin C," says Dr Shefali Trasi-Nerukar, dermatologist.

Dry skin:

If you have skin that generally lacks moisture, here are a few natural treatments that won't only retain moisture but also keep it there:

Coconut oil:

Not only is it a natural moisturizer, it also acts as a make up remover, and a body scrubber. It sinks deep inside the pores, softens and moisturizes the skin completely, and also cleans away dirt and grime. Additionally, a coconut oil massage is recommended for strong and healthy hair.

Papaya:

These are best known for retaining water and removing dead skin cells thus giving way to supple, glowing skin. If you have dry skin, mash a papaya with some honey for instant skin moisturizing and hydration. "Papaya is very helpful in combating dry skin problems. Raw papaya pulp is rich in antioxidants especially vitamin C which helps in moisturizing and brightening the complexion," says dermatologist Dr Apratim Goel.

How to get luminous skin

This season one of the biggest beauty trends is natural and glowing skin, the foundation of which is a good skincare routine.

Skincare experts Rabia Malik and Preema Vig suggest that exfoliation and increasing hyaluronic acid in your skin can show great results, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Malik says that one can begin with some gentle exfoliation as this will ensure removal of surface debris from the skin.

"Following exfoliation, increase your skin's level of hyaluronic aid to achieve a more luminous, brighter complexion. This can be achieved with topicals that contain high levels of molecular weight hyaluronic acid. Try using homecare products that contain peptides too as these help to achieve a brighter complexion," said Malik.

Vig feels that hyaluronic acid helps to plump the skin and so does the intake of vitamin A.

"Vitamin A increases the skin cell cycle which brings new skin cells to the surface. Vitamin C helps in lightening, brightening and tightening the skin. Fruit acids at night exfoliate the top layer of skin," said Vig

Take care of those beautiful hands

Here are some tips of how you can take care of your beautiful hands.

It is said that the skin of your hands can give your age away more than your face. And it is a myth that they need more care only in the winters. Summers too call for hand nourishment and care. Here are some tips on how you can do it -

1. Moisturize:

It is important to keep your hands moisturized even in summers to keep them soft. Apply a good moisturizer every time after you wash your hands. Use at least thrice in a day.

2. Pamper your hands:

Go for a manicure at least once a month and treat your hands to some fine moisturizing, massaging and exfoliating.

3. Use lukewarm water:

Do not use boiling hot water or ice cold water when you wash your hands. Use only lukewarm water every time you wash them in all seasons.

4. Scrub them and massage oils:

use a good scrub twice or thrice a week to remove all the dirt and grime that gets stored on the skin making it dry and rough.

5. Take care of them:

Make sure you wear gloves when you do some dirty household task with your hands!

Tips to get rid of dry skin around nails

Dryness is the main reason for getting cracked skin around finger nails. If not treated, it can even lead to eczema, which is a dry skin condition.

Moisturizing is one of the easiest ways to combat and control the dryness of hands. This can make the white, thick skin disappear. But remember, proper moisturization is the key. Here are ways you can moisturize your hands better, so that you don't face the same problem again.

  • Fingers are among the most used and exposed body parts. So, the best trick is to use a hand lotion and massage for a few minutes.
  • If you like, you can even use coconut oil. But the key is to massage the area. Oil not only helps in moisturizing, but also strengthens the nails.
  • For best results, soak your hands in lukewarm water for 10 to 15 minutes every night. Dab them dry and apply a hand cream. Then take oil and apply on your nails and massage.
  • Also, increase the intake of Vitamin B in your diet. Dryness occurs due to the lack of the particular vitamin.
  • In case the problem persists, it's possible that you have food sensitivity. Food sensitivity occurs due to a mild reaction to certain foods. Consult a doctor in that case.

Drink coconut water for glowing skin

Got dull, lifeless skin? While skin texture is mostly hereditary, there is a lot you can do to improve it.

The effect of diet is seriously underestimated in beauty care. While consumption of fruits and fruit juices is said to be good for the skin, it is best to avoid oily and masala rich foods. While orange juice has been voted the best for skin, not many are aware of the benefits of coconut water when it comes to skin care.

The liquid, considered the purest one after water, hydrates the skin, making it look more youthful and supple. Studies say that the antioxidants and cytokinins present in coconut water have an age defying effect on skin. The nutritious value of the drink has always been acknowledged. If you are feeling weak or have stomach problems, drink coconut water for an energy boost.

An advantage it has over fruit juices is that you can easily have a glass a day since it is almost entirely fat free and sugar free. There are also studies which say that coconut water dabbed on skin has a positive effect. However, there are no studies to prove this.

Well, drink coconut water every day and watch your skin glow!

Foot care regime for summer

It's easier to protect your feet during winter, but one can put the best foot forward in summer too by following simple steps like washing them properly, using coconut oil and more.

The tips should be followed religiously to get the best results, says capital-based dermatologist Deepali Bhardwaj.

Here are the tips:

1. Wash feet daily:

Summer is the time when you sweat a lot and so do your feet. This attracts lots of dirt and dust. So, make sure that before going to bed, you wash your feet with cold water for around 15 minutes.

2. Moisturize daily:

Use any lotion or foot cream and make it your daily routine to apply it on your feet. But don't go overboard with moisturizer especially between your toes as it might cause fungal infection.

3. Apply sunscreen:

When you choose to uncover your feet, apply sunscreen on your feet to protect them from scorching heat.

4. Choose comfortable footwear:

Give your feet space to breathe by wearing comfortable footwear preferably made of mesh fabric.

5. Use coconut oil:

Apply coconut oil on your feet and keep it overnight. Make sure to wear a pair of cotton socks after application.

6. Shea butter treat:

It is very effective to take care of chapped feet. Soak them in a tub of warm water with a teaspoon of shea butter in it.

For that radiant, glowing skin

Want to flaunt a radiant, glowing skin. Then follow these rules

Vitamin C:

Have your share of vitamin C as it is known for being anti-oxidant. Vitamin C helps in building strong immune system, radiant skin and helps blemishes heal properly. And the best sources are oranges, papaya, broccoli, guava, kiwi fruits, strawberries and sweet potatoes. Regular intake of these fruits and vegetables will show great results.

Say no to crash diets:

If you want that enviable skin then you have to say no to crash diets. Crash diets are unhealthy and they take toll on your skin making you look haggard. Crash diets also lead to shortage of essential vitamins and affect overall physical well-being. The key to glowing skin lies eating your share of fruits and vegetables. Remember there is no alternative to healthy eating.

Drink water:

Your skin needs moisture for that suppleness. Drink six to eight glasses of water a day will do fine. Even if you spend your day at an air-conditioned office, keep on sipping water throughout the day. Cut down on smoking, alcohol consumption. Too much of coffee is also no good. Instead settle down for 2/3 cups of herbal tea in a day.

Summer care tips for a happy feet

The summer heat can make your feet dry and rough with the skin peeling off due to bad weather conditions. In order to keep your feet healthy, Blossom Kochhar, chairperson of Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies, offers a few tips to take care of feet:

Shea butter:

Shea butter can play a major role in taking care of chapped and neglected feet. Follow the given procedure to keep your feet healthy and glowing:

  • Soak your feet in warm water for 10-15 minutes and cleanse your feet thoroughly by scrubbing properly with a sponge or a pumice stone to remove the dead skin, rough areas and calluses from under the feet.
  • Change the water. Take another tub of warm water and add one teaspoon of shea butter to it.
  • Soak your feet in it once again for 10 minutes.
  • After that pat your feet dry with a towel.
  • Then apply little amount of the shea butter on your feet thoroughly to keep it smooth and moisturised.

Wear sunscreen:

Don't forget to slather sunscreen on your feet, too! During the summer, feet are often forgotten when protecting skin from the sun. Protect your feet and remember to check them for sun damage when you do regular self-exams.

Soak you feet:

To bring the swelling down after a long, hot day, soak your feet in a tub of ice water for 15 minutes. Then pat dry with a towel. It will give a calming and easing sensation to the pain that you might experience from the swelling.

Moisturise your feet:

The skin on your feet needs moisture just like the rest of your body. To keep your feet soft and to prevent dry, cracking heels, use a foot cream regularly at night as part of your home pedicure routine.

Buff off dead skin and calluses:

Keep your feet looking their best by gently buffing off dead skin and calluses. After bathing or a relaxing foot soak, use a pumice stone to buff away calluses on your feet. Do not shave or cut corns or pop blisters; you could cause an infection.

Use coconut oil:

Keep some extra coconut oil handy and your feet will be happy even in summers. This oil has the ability to moisturise dry, rough skin. It nurtures skin cells and removes impurities in the skin. Leave it overnight and wear cotton socks and you will wake up with soft, beautiful feet.

DIY skin detox for summer

Get rid of dry, flaky skin and be summer-ready by following these do-it-yourself (DIY) steps to make your body look beautiful.

Sweat it out:

Sweating is our body's natural way to discard toxins. Take a brisk walk, go for a morning jog, take up power yoga, exercise in your local gym — do whatever it takes to make sure you sweat. Lazy girls can opt for the sauna or steam room at the gym.

Eat right:

Dump those packaged and processed foods from your fridge. Stock up instead on fresh vegetables and fruits. At least once a week, make sure you eat only fresh veggies and fruits of different colours —oranges, cucumber, guava, apples, broccoli, zucchini, red and yellow pepper, carrots and watermelon to name a few. Including different coloured items in your diet ensures that various vitamins and minerals are consumed.

Scrub off dead cells:

Use a mixture of honey, oatmeal, curd and fine sugar as a mask on your body. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes and then scrub off gently. You could also use a pre-packaged body scrub. Squeeze a small quantity on a loofah and use gentle circular movements all over your body to scrub off dead skin cells. Follow it up with a shower and apply an intensely nourishing but non-sticky moisturising lotion. Avoid going out in the sun directly after a thorough scrub. It's best to scrub before you retire for the night.

Drink to cleanse:

Make water your best friend. Avoid drinking packaged fruit and vegetables juices — even if they promise to be sugar-free and preservative-free. For your fix of natural juice, take a few pieces of beetroot, cucumber, bottle gourd and a few leaves of spinach and blend in the juicer.

Have a shot of wheatgrass juice every morning if possible. Try combinations of different vegetables and fruits in your juice to suit your taste. You'll see a noticeable difference in your body, skin, hair and nails when you drink two glasses of mixed juices every day for two weeks.
