Smile grooming tips

Follow these tips

  • Avoid excessive intake of colored food and beverages like coffee & tea as it stains your teeth
  • Red wine also causes discoloration of teeth, so avoid red wine
  • Certain fruits have the ability to whiten teeth naturally acting as excellent tooth whiteners, you can try mashing up a strawberry and mixing it with a small amount of baking soda to create your own whitening toothpaste. The acids in the strawberry work to polish and whiten your teeth.
  • Quitting cigarettes may be harder than it sounds but will do wonders for your teeth
  • You may not want to try this with hot coffee, but sipping iced tea, cola, and fruit juices through a plastic straw will reduce your teeth's exposure to these staining beverages

  • Brush twice a day in a circular motion also ensure massaging your gums
  • Visit your dentist every 6 months for a check-up
  • Use an even bristle toothbrush
  • Gargle after every meal with mouthwash or regular water, do not forget to floss your teeth

Top ten beauty myths

A new study says that nine out of 10 women admit to making grooming mistakes such as washing hair daily to bring more volume to it or plucking eyebrows too close to the mirror to get a perfect shape.

The study has been conducted by professional hair care website Hairtrade.com, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"We all make hair and beauty mistakes but the good news is they can easily be put right and by doing so, may even save you time and money," said a spokeswoman from Hairtrade.com.

Here are the 10 most common hair and beauty mistakes:

Washing hair too much:

One believe that by washing hair every day you're keeping it squeaky clean and in top condition. You're wrong. Washing locks so frequently means you strip them of their natural oils and are actually doing more harm than good.

Applying too much conditioner:

People apply conditioner all over hair like the way they do it with shampoo. The hair at roots is new and healthier so concentrate on the tips of hair.

Not using a heat protector:

There really is no excuse for not protecting hair while using hairdryers and straighteners most days. Blasting hair with heat without shielding it in some way will leave it dry, frizzy and in poor condition.

Tying your ponytail in the same place:

If you always wear your hair up in a tight ponytail, then try not to tie it in exactly the same place every day. It can cause too much tension on the hair and over time can weaken it.

Forgetting to wash make-up brushes:

It's one of those jobs you know you should do but just can't be bothered about. If you fail to give your brushes a good clean then not only will you have mixed colours, you are also allowing bacteria to build up. Aim to give your brushes a clean once a week.

Neglecting neck:

As part of your daily skin care routine, do you cleanse and moisturise your neck? Thought not. Don't stop at your chin, make sure you carry on and take care of the thin, delicate skin on your neck. This area can be prone to sensitivity so it is really important to look after it.

Over-treating and over-covering spots:

It's too easy to apply every spot cream you have to your face as soon as you have a breakout, but don't. They work on your skin for hours so make sure you always follow the pack instructions to the letter. Likewise, don't cake them in make-up. Your skin needs time to breath.

Applying foundation before moisturiser is dry:

Moisturiser needs time to dry so give it a minute before you start applying your foundation. The creaminess of moisturiser can cause makeup to thin out, so if you apply too quickly you'll get a streaky look.

Plucking eyebrows too close to the mirror:

If you pluck too close to the mirror you find yourself looking at every hair rather than looking at the overall shape of your eyebrows. This can leave you with thin, uneven brows. Instead use a large mirror and take a couple of steps back so you can see your whole face, not just your eyebrows.

Yellow nails:

If you love nail art and never leave the house without a new design or colour on your talons, then you could be prone to yellow nails. Constant decoration can change the natural colour of the nails. The answer? Always apply a base coat and this will help prevent the stains.

How to get a perfect smile

Are you worried about the way your smile looks in a photograph or a selfie? Here are a few tips to ensure you get that picture-perfect grin:

  • Relax your face and smile gently. Keep your mouth slightly opened, and align your lower lip so that it matches the curve of your upper teeth.
  • Don't bend your head forward while smiling to avoid showing your double chin. Turn your head slightly and drop your chin so your face is not completely square with the camera.
  • Lipstick shades like cherry red, wine, berry, plum, and rose pink make your teeth look whiter.
  • Practice makes perfect, so stand in front of the mirror and get your posture and smile right. The ideal grin is one that shows the upper teeth and not too much of the gums.
  • Run your tongue over your teeth just before the picture is taken. This moistens teeth and makes them sparkle.

Beauty tips to hide a hangover

If you've gone all-night partying mid-week and have to report to work the next day, here are a few tips that will conceal all the signs of a hangover!

1. Since alcohol dehydrates the body, you need to keep drinking plenty of water to rehydrate yourself. Dehydration will cause your skin to look dry, so the first tip is to drink plenty of fluid, to get that glow back on your face.

2. Before you apply any make-up on, use a thick moisturiser on your face. This will pamper your skin and keep it healthy.

3. If you eyes have become puffy due to lack of sleep, apply cold teabags on it. You can also try cucumber pieces or wrap some ice in a cloth and use it on your eyes for ten to fifteen minutes. This will help reduce any swelling around the eyes and make you look fresher.

How to be Sexy and attractive without makeup !

It's not makeup that gives you that sizzling aura, there's more to getting that oomph quotient. Check out how you can look red haute without all that greasepaint...

Quick fix

Wash your face, neck, and if you can, your arms and hands in cold water. This is instantly refreshing. The cold water will close your pores and may help keep shine at bay for a little bit longer. Brush or take up your hair. Neaten your appearance. Don't forget your teeth: take a bit of time to gargle. Give your cheeks a pinch and your lips a quick bite to get them to redden somewhat.

Go fresh

Grunge and the just-out-of-bed look may appear sexy and fresh in movies, but it takes a horde of makeup people, stylists, lights, and special effects guys to get actors and actresses to look like that. In real life, the light may not always be flattering, dirt and grime are off-putting, and body odor is a turn-off. We seldom look our best when we first get up from bed. So take that shower, shampoo your hair, and put on clean clothes.

You can't manufacture a fresh look. It doesn't come out of a bottle. So make the effort. And then spray on some scent. Fresh, light, scent. Again, you have to be clean first. Pouring perfume on yourself to hide several days of sweat, grime, and body odor will only make you reek.

Co-ordinate your act

Brush your hair or put it up in a ponytail, so long as the style suits you. Put on clothes that look good on you. Sometimes people are not sure what looks flattering on them, so they fall into a fashion rut. Take the trouble to read up on your body shape, lifestyle, and budget then try on lots of clothes to find the styles that look good on you. Don't blindly follow trends; adapt trends to your personality. Accessorize! Bright, bold accessories draw the eye.

Healthy regime helps

Health gives you a radiant glow and vitality, making you more youthful. If you're not sick, there's no reason why you should not stay healthy, particularly if you want to look beautiful. Of course, a person can be sick and still be beautiful -yes, even without makeup. Even a cancer survivor whose hair has not yet grown back can be strikingly beautiful. Eating well and exercising (if you can manage it) are doubly important if you're sick. They will boost your immune system and get the endorphins and adrenaline going in your body; those, in turn, will help up your beauty factor.

Million dollar smile

A friendly, pleasant countenance will make people better disposed to you and enhance their perception of your beauty. Looking beautiful is not about makeup. Beauty is in the person. And in this day and age, when the standards of beauty are more encompassing and less rigid than in years past, there's no excuse for not looking your best. Wearing or not wearing makeup will not determine whether you are considered beautiful. There's a lot more acceptance of inner beauty nowadays.
