Want sexy feet in summers?

Yes, feet have a lingo of their own.

And yes, it is possible for them to don a real haute and sexy avatar, provided you are ready to indulge this highly neglected part of your body! In case, you are ready to make some efforts, here's how you can go about it...

Salon pedicure at home!

No need to book an appointment, you can give yourself a salon-quality pedicure with these easy steps:

1. Remove all polish. Trim and file your toenails.
2. Buff nails smooth with a nail buffer.
3. Massage cuticle softener around the nail contour.
4. Soak feet in warm water for 10-15 minutes (or take your shower or bath).
5. Push back cuticles with a cuticle stick and remove any debris or dead skin from beneath and around the nail.
6. Apply moisturizer to feet, followed by a swipe of nail polish remover to prepare the nail.
7. Apply your base coat, followed by nail color, followed by top coat.
8. Remove any errors with a nail polish remover pen and don't worry, any polish on skin will come off with your next shower.

The next day, apply cuticle oil all over your toenails, it will moisturize skin around the nail bed and help your polish last longer.

Foot care regime for summer

It's easier to protect your feet during winter, but one can put the best foot forward in summer too by following simple steps like washing them properly, using coconut oil and more.

The tips should be followed religiously to get the best results, says capital-based dermatologist Deepali Bhardwaj.

Here are the tips:

1. Wash feet daily:

Summer is the time when you sweat a lot and so do your feet. This attracts lots of dirt and dust. So, make sure that before going to bed, you wash your feet with cold water for around 15 minutes.

2. Moisturize daily:

Use any lotion or foot cream and make it your daily routine to apply it on your feet. But don't go overboard with moisturizer especially between your toes as it might cause fungal infection.

3. Apply sunscreen:

When you choose to uncover your feet, apply sunscreen on your feet to protect them from scorching heat.

4. Choose comfortable footwear:

Give your feet space to breathe by wearing comfortable footwear preferably made of mesh fabric.

5. Use coconut oil:

Apply coconut oil on your feet and keep it overnight. Make sure to wear a pair of cotton socks after application.

6. Shea butter treat:

It is very effective to take care of chapped feet. Soak them in a tub of warm water with a teaspoon of shea butter in it.

Summer care tips for a happy feet

The summer heat can make your feet dry and rough with the skin peeling off due to bad weather conditions. In order to keep your feet healthy, Blossom Kochhar, chairperson of Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies, offers a few tips to take care of feet:

Shea butter:

Shea butter can play a major role in taking care of chapped and neglected feet. Follow the given procedure to keep your feet healthy and glowing:

  • Soak your feet in warm water for 10-15 minutes and cleanse your feet thoroughly by scrubbing properly with a sponge or a pumice stone to remove the dead skin, rough areas and calluses from under the feet.
  • Change the water. Take another tub of warm water and add one teaspoon of shea butter to it.
  • Soak your feet in it once again for 10 minutes.
  • After that pat your feet dry with a towel.
  • Then apply little amount of the shea butter on your feet thoroughly to keep it smooth and moisturised.

Wear sunscreen:

Don't forget to slather sunscreen on your feet, too! During the summer, feet are often forgotten when protecting skin from the sun. Protect your feet and remember to check them for sun damage when you do regular self-exams.

Soak you feet:

To bring the swelling down after a long, hot day, soak your feet in a tub of ice water for 15 minutes. Then pat dry with a towel. It will give a calming and easing sensation to the pain that you might experience from the swelling.

Moisturise your feet:

The skin on your feet needs moisture just like the rest of your body. To keep your feet soft and to prevent dry, cracking heels, use a foot cream regularly at night as part of your home pedicure routine.

Buff off dead skin and calluses:

Keep your feet looking their best by gently buffing off dead skin and calluses. After bathing or a relaxing foot soak, use a pumice stone to buff away calluses on your feet. Do not shave or cut corns or pop blisters; you could cause an infection.

Use coconut oil:

Keep some extra coconut oil handy and your feet will be happy even in summers. This oil has the ability to moisturise dry, rough skin. It nurtures skin cells and removes impurities in the skin. Leave it overnight and wear cotton socks and you will wake up with soft, beautiful feet.
